Researchers Recommend DOD strategy for Web 2.0

The Department of Defense must prepare to build or buy social media tools and educate its workforce to use them, according to a report conducted by researchers at the DOD-funded National Defense University (NDU). The report examined how the U.S. government, its allies, and potential enemies use social media tools including blogs, micro-blogs and social networking Web sites. I wonder how DoD will be able to incorporate web 2.0 considering I work at a general library program Naval library and the computers can't even access yahoo or hotmail because active x scripting is blocked. Web 2.0 seems to pose a security risk. Perhaps the DoD will make its own tools (and waste a lot of money on redundancy in the process.)
